(this made 22 rainbow cupcakes)
Self Raising Flour 8oz
Caster Sugar 8oz
Margarine 8oz
4 eggs

And as many bottles of food colouring as you like.
I used, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink and mixed the Red and Blue to make a purplish red. I also decided to put some Vanilla essence on the top of them,
and plenty of cupcake cases!

1.) Mix the flour, sugar, margarine and eggs together until creamy.
2.) Decide how many colours you are going to use and divide the mixture in to that many bowls. (I used 8 bowls, 7 colours, 1 flavour)
3.) Make a small circular dip in the sponge mixture for the food colouring to go into, you don’t need a lot! then mix well, folding the mixture into the colour making sure it’s all blended in well.
4.) I found it best sticking to 3 colours per cup cake and using 1/2 - 1tsp of each colour (if you’re adding plain/uncoloured sponge mix with the flavour on top then probably 1/2 tsp of coloured sponge mix will be enough in each.
Go crazy with outrageous colours or keep to traffic lights, girlie colours or boy colours, experiment, have fun.
5.) Once all the cupcakes are colourful put them in the oven on Gas Mark 4 for 12 minutes. Then check them to see if they need longer. Mine needed another 4 minutes. Making full cooking time 16 minutes.
